Improving the skills, competence and wellbeing of all seafarers
Yacht Training schools tend to focus on teaching essential nautical knowledge, safety and basic seamanship to the level required to gain certificates of competence necessary required to become a crew member . The assumption is that junior crew will learn ‘on the job’ as they work alongside more experienced, senior crew members.
But on today’s Superyachts, Captains and First Mates often have difficulty allocating time for the professional development of their crew. This means there is a growing skills gap between the qualifying mandatory training and the real hands on experience necessary for the safe and efficient operations of modern vessels.
